St.Nicolas orthodox church It is erected in a glory of Saint Nicolas Merlikijsky, the most honorable saint in Russian North- protector of seafarers and travelers. The local lore museum The Local lore museum depicts the history of the city since its foundation till now. It also has specimens of the flora and fauna of the Kola peninsula. One of the departments is devoted to the history, culture and lifestyle of the Lappish ethnic group, their national traditions and holidays, costumes and folklore. The Fine arts museum The Fine arts museum has a rich collection of paintings, drawings and textiles, applied art and handicraft objects. The Naval history museum This museum gives the history of the Northern Fleet from 1916 when the Arctic Ocean Flotilia was created. The exhibition presents fire-arms,weapons, model ships, spoils of war. Oceanarium A floating complex supporting various species of the Arctic seal was created on lake Semenovskoje. Visitors can watch seals perform, a spectacle which always arouses great interest. The Polar Research Institute museum The Polar Research Institute of Marine Fishery and Oceanography carries out research of biological resources of the world ocean.The museum being a part of it has exposition of sea animals, fishes and other creatures. Nuclear icebreakers owned by Murmansk Shipping Company The first of this family "Lenin" was built in Leningrad in 1958. She is retired and laid up in Murmansk. Her younger sisters "Arctica", Sevmorput" and others are operating in the Arctic seas all the year round. Polar Alpine Botanical Garden The Polar Alpine Botanical garden, opened in 1931 is located 7 km from Kirovsk among the Khibiny Mountains .It's the world's only botanical garden in the polar region and one of the few mountain gardens.
